Bob Stoops

Former head coach at Oklahoma

This is the coach I’d love to see at Tennessee more than anyone else.

I loved watching Bob Stoops’ teams play at Oklahoma. And I’d love to see those same types of football teams in Knoxville.

Stoops was the Sooners’ head coach from 1999-2016. In that time frame, he failed to reach double digit wins in only four seasons.

Butch Jones has done that in four straight years, but I digress.

Of course the big question is whether or not Stoops wants to return to coaching. Did he just need year off, like Urban Meyer when he left Florida? Or is Stoops, at 57, truly done with coaching.

It’s hard to know for sure. My bet is that he doesn’t want to return to coaching.

But maybe, just maybe, Stoops still has the strong desire to coach football. If that’s the case, then Tennessee is a perfect job for him, and it would give him a chance to prove he can be successful in the SEC.
