Chip Kelly

Former head coach at Oregon

There seems to be some debate among the Vol faithful over whether or not Kelly is a legitimate option for Tennessee.

I honestly don’t see why he wouldn’t be.

Kelly is going to return to coaching next year. And he’s going to return to the college ranks.

Most likely, Tennessee will be the best job available next season. The roster is in good shape. There’s no doubt Kelly would have success in Knoxville. He’d have success almost anywhere.

If the Vols can land Kelly, he’s the one guy that will undoubtedly have Tennessee back in the top five within a year or two. If you get a coach like that, you have to throw everything into potentially landing him.

There are several good options for the Vols this off-season if they make a coaching change. The timing to land a new head coach might not be any better for Tennessee than it will be this year.
