Potential Tennessee Vols head coaching candidate Chip Kelly is a big fan of sliders.

Former Oregon Ducks head coach Chip Kelly, who should be the Tennessee Vols’ top target if/when they fire Butch Jones, is notoriously discreet about his private life.

But every now and then a few details leak out.

Earlier on Tuesday I tweeted out a quote from a 2015 story about Kelly when he was the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. The story, which attempts to dive into Kelly’s personal life, is worth a read.

Anyway, here’s the tweet from Tuesday.

I tweeted that quote with the intention of dispelling the notion that Kelly is habitually aloof.

The last line of the quote didn’t even register with me, until several folks on Twitter pointed out Kelly’s apparent affection for sliders.

Either Kelly is eating the most expensive sliders ever, or he and his girlfriend are downing about 50 of those things in one sitting.

Whatever the case, it certainly sounds like Chip is an affable guy when he’s away from the spotlight of the media. He doesn’t pull a Belichick with the media — he meets his obligations and gives the information he needs to give — but it’s obvious that his personal life is not where he wants the focus.

Kelly is a football guy. Plain and simple. He doesn’t have children — he eats, drinks, and breathes football. That’s probably what makes him so good at what he does.

Tennessee might not land Kelly, but they definitely need to make him their top target.
