7. Mike Norvell — Head coach at Memphis

Mike Norvell has done a fantastic job of taking over for Justin Fuente at Memphis.

The Tigers went 8-5 in Norvell’s first season and they’re off to a 5-1 start this season (former Vols quarterback Riley Ferguson is playing pretty damn well under Norvell). Memphis’ only loss so far in 2017 was to Central Florida.

Before Norvell took the head coaching job at Memphis, he was the offensive coordinator at Arizona State. He’s also spent time at Pittsburgh and Tulsa.

It’s obvious that Norvell is a good coach, but how much of his success is owed to the foundation that his predecessor left at Memphis?

With only two years of head coaching experience, Norvell might also be too big of a gamble for the Volunteers.
