5. Dan Mullen — Head coach at Mississippi State

I’ve went back and forth a lot on Dan Mullen.

He’s definitely a good coach, as he’s found some success at Mississippi State. But his success has been moderate at best.

Mullen only has one 10 win season as the Bulldogs’ head coach, and that came when Dak Prescott was his quarterback. Mullen’s years at Mississippi State without Prescott have been rather ordinary.

Obviously he could land better talent at Tennessee, but I’m just not sure how great of a fit he’d be in Knoxville.

There’s a reason that Mullen didn’t end up at Florida this last time around.

But with that said, he’s still one of the better options for Tennessee.

Mullen, who currently makes $4.8 million annually at Mississippi State would probably be a fool to leave Starkville. But if he ever wants to compete for national championship he’s going to have to leave the place where he’s been a head coach since 2009.
