Scott Frost — Head coach at Central Florida

When the Florida Gators hired Urban Meyer away from Utah in 2005, they knew they were getting a star coach.

Whoever hires Scott Frost will be getting the same.

I think Frost is the next great college football coach, and that’s why I think he should be someone the Vols make a full court press effort to land.

Frost turned UCF around last season and led them to a bowl game. This year, he has the Knights off to a 6-0 start. UCF’s 31-21 road win against Navy on Saturday was the closest game they’ve played all season.

Of course the only problem here is that Frost played college football at Nebraska and that job will likely be open after this season.

But is Nebraska a better job than Tennessee?

I don’t think so, and I don’t think most other folks think so either.

Frost is a loyal guy, and he seems committed to staying at UCF. He passed on the Oregon job when it came open last year. Would he be willing to leave after two years at Central Florida?

Currently, Frost only makes $1.7 million a year. The Vols could throw a lot of money at him to try to convince him to come to Knoxville. I think it would be a wise move for Tennessee to do all they can to land the Chip Kelly protege.
