Tennessee Football: Beat Writer Takes Cheap Shot At Former Vol
By Zach Ragan
It hasn’t been a very good season for the Tennessee Vols.
The 2017 season has been a disaster for Butch Jones and the Tennessee Vols.
While nearly everyone that has an opinion on college football places the blame for Tennessee’s dismal season on Jones, there are still a few folks choosing to blame the players.
One of those people is beat writer Mike Griffith, who covers the Vols for SEC Country.
What Griffith tweeted on Thursday evening about former Tennessee offensive lineman Venzell Boulware is shameful.
Boulware, as you might remember, left the program after the Georgia game.
Maybe Boulware did leave in response to not playing against Georgia. But maybe he didn’t.
Either way, for Griffith to go after Boulware, just so he can defend the terrible job Jones has done this season, is absolutely disgusting.
Griffith should be ashamed, but I doubt that happens. He’s willing to throw every single Vol under the bus, just to make Jones look better than he really is.
But Tennessee fans aren’t stupid. They know the players on the field are they ones giving everything they have, while Jones sits back and gets paid (very well) to put a terrible product on the field.
Hopefully when Jones is fired, he’ll take Mike Griffith with him.
The Vol players deserve better coverage.
Go after the man making nearly $5 million a year, Mike. You know, the guy that’s 14-22 in the SEC in year five at Tennessee. Go after that person. Not the college kids that are playing for a scholarship.
Or is that too much to ask?
