
1. Greg Schiano — Defensive coordinator at Ohio State
You might scoff at this, but I’m all in on Greg Schiano.
He did tremendous things at Rutgers, and then he decided to give the NFL a shot. Obviously that didn’t work out too well, but he’s hardly the first great college coach to suffer the same fate.
Schiano then went to Ohio State to learn from one of the best in Urban Meyer.
I think Schiano is the most realistic possibility for the Volunteers. And I think he’s probably the most “sure thing” on this list. He has the ability to turn Tennessee into a national championship contender.
And I don’t think he’d hesitate to take the job at Tennessee — plus he probably wouldn’t force the Vols to break the bank for his services.
Schiano, who is only 51, has the potential to be the next great head coach in college football.
