9. Mike Leach — Head coach at Washington State

Mike Leach wouldn’t be the sexy hire that everyone wants, but he’d be a better option than a lot of names out there.

What Leach is doing this season at Washington State, with recruiting talent that’s ranked around 45th in the nation, is nothing short of remarkable.

Leach has consistently got the most out of the talent he has on his team. He’s never been somewhere that’s allowed him to lock down top 25 classes on a regular basis.

If he has Washington State at 8-2 with less than top tier talent, imagine what he could do with top level talent at Tennessee.

Leach wouldn’t turn Tennessee into the next Alabama, but he’d have them consistently making trips to Atlanta in December.

And his press conferences would be a welcome break from the annoying clichés that are spewed on a weekly basis by Butch Jones.
