3. Gary Patterson — Head coach at TCU

I never thought Gary Patterson was a realistic possibility until he recently mentioned that he’d never say never to leaving TCU for another job.

Patterson is another coach that does a lot with a little. I don’t think there’s any question that he’d kill it at Tennessee.

But the Vols would have to come pretty strong to land Patterson — he currently makes over $5 million a year. And he enjoys quite a bit of job security at TCU.

Would Patterson want to leave a good situation to make the jump to the SEC, somewhere he’s never coached before?

It’s hard to know for sure, but Tennessee definitely needs to be on the phone with Patterson.
