Who will be the next head coach of the Tennessee Vols?

Everyone seems to be focused on Jon Gruden at the moment in the Tennessee Vols’ coaching search.

And while Gruden has proved to be a viable candidate to replace Butch Jones, he’s not the only person that will be considered by athletic director John Currie.

No one knows what Gruden will choose to do, or if it’s even the right move for Tennessee to make.

With that in mind, I think there are a lot of good coaches for Tennessee to consider.

We’ve compiled a list of the top five coaches that Tennessee could possibly land. Maybe some of these guys won’t be interested in Tennessee. But it sounds like the Vols are ready to make a strong pitch to a sitting head coach, so these are calls and offers the program has to make.

For what it’s worth, we haven’t included a couple of names that we don’t think will be options for Tennessee.

For example, David Shaw likely isn’t going to consider leaving Stanford. Chip Kelly doesn’t seem to be a good fit at Tennessee (he’s going to be more interested in Florida or a west coast job). And there’s no way Bob Stoops is coming out of retirement to coach Tennessee.

Anyway, here are the top five coaches the Volunteers could land (not named Gruden).
