Mike Norvell — Memphis Head Coach

This is basically Tennessee’s safety coach.

If everything else falls through, they’ll give Mike Norvell a call and get him to Knoxville.

And look, Norvell is a good coach. He’s doing as well as Justin Fuente, if not better, at Memphis.

Going 8-5 in your first season (they lost their bowl game) as a head coach is impressive at any level. If Memphis had beat UCF this season, Norvell would be a hotter coaching name than Scott Frost.

My only concern with Norvell is that he doesn’t have any SEC experience (but he has coached in the Pac-12 at least). That’s a concern with any candidate, because the SEC is a different beast than any other conference.

But I still think Norvell is a solid coach, and he’ll likely be a at Power-5 job sooner than later.
