Tennessee Vols Coaching Search: Post-Schiano Hot Board

Chad Morris — SMU Head Coach
I didn’t think the Volunteers would get this far down their list, but here we are.
Morris, a former highly paid offensive coordinator under Dabo Swinney at Clemson, has done a great job of reviving SMU football.
He had a bit of a rough start (the program was in awful shape), but in his third season he has the Mustangs on the verge of an eight win season.
Morris is an offensive mastermind, which is something Tennessee desperately needs at the moment. But his defense leaves a little to be desired.
Hopefully if the Vols hire Morris, he’d be able to bring a distinguished defensive coordinator with him (Kevin Steele anyone?).
It’s also worth noting that Morris’ SMU squad is the team that’s come closest to beating Scott Frost’s UCF team this season (SMU lost 31-24).
