Tennessee Vols Coaching Search: Revised Hot Board

Kevin Sumlin — Former Texas A&M Head Coach

I’m sure Sumlin is going to have some interest in the Florida State job, but perhaps Tennessee can get in the mix here.

Sumlin is good friends with former Vols coach Butch Jones, so that might be a roadblock for Tennessee. But maybe now that John Currie, the man who fired Jones, is out of the picture, Sumlin would be willing to listen.

I know Sumlin isn’t the most exciting option for some folks because he was fired at Texas A&M, but he’s a better coach than a lot of what’s available. I think he could do well at Tennessee (he’s one of the few that’s beat Saban in Tuscaloosa).
