Tennessee Football Recruiting: Jeremy Banks Signs With Vols
By Zach Ragan
The Tennessee Vols are looking to shore up their running back depth.
2018 three-star running back Jeremy Banks signed his national letter of intent with the Tennessee Vols on Wednesday.
Banks, a 6’2″/215 lb running back from Cordova, TN, signed with the Volunteers less than two weeks after he was offered by Tennessee.
Recently hired Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt offered Banks on December 9, before visiting the talented running back (along with coaches Robert Gillespie and Will Friend) on December 12.
Banks also took an official visit to Tennessee this past weekend.
It’s impressive the amount of work that Pruitt and his staff put into Banks in such a short amount of time.
247Sports rates Banks as the 17th best 2018 player in the state of Tennessee and the 24th best 2018 running back in the nation.
Banks, who chose to sign with Tennessee over Nebraska, is not expected to be an early enrollee at Tennessee.
It’s pretty clear that Pruitt wants to make sure the Vols have plenty of running back depth — something that was a theme during his time at Alabama.
The Vols’ running back situation isn’t bad at all right now (especially if John Kelly returns for his senior season). But we’ve also seen in recent years that you can never have enough running back depth.
Banks is the teammate of fellow Vols signee Jerome Carvin.
Landing the two talented Cordova natives should also help Tennessee establish more of a presence in the Memphis area, which is an area of the state where Ole Miss routinely poaches commits.
