Tennessee Football: Alontae Taylor Signs With Vols
By Zach Ragan
The Tennessee Vols added another member to their 2018 recruiting class on Friday.
On Friday, 2018 four-star wide receiver Alontae Taylor officially signed his national letter of intent to play college football for the Tennessee Vols.
Taylor, 6’0″/182 lbs from Manchester, TN (Coffee County Central), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the fifth best 2018 player in the state of Tennessee and the 22nd best 2018 wide receiver in the nation.
The Tennessee native signed with the Volunteers over offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, South Carolina, Stanford, TCU and UCF, among others.

Taylor is a huge get for the Vols — especially after he decommitted from Tennessee the day Butch Jones was fired.
During Taylor’s decommitment period, he took official visits to Georgia and Wake Forest. He was also visited by Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino. However, after officially visiting Tennessee on December 9, and meeting the new coaching staff, Taylor made the decision to recommit to the Volunteers.
Taylor has the potential to be an elite playmaker for Tennessee. His 40 speed isn’t all that impressive (4.60 seconds), but it’s the way he uses his speed that’s impressive. Taylor, who is quicker on the field than you may realize, is good at switching up his speeds (think Antonio Brown — though that’s a lofty goal).

I’m not saying Taylor is going to be a star in the SEC for certain, but I do think he has that type of potential. But it’s all about whether or not his talent gets developed on Rocky Top.
