1. Marcus Mariota’s Legendary Catch

The play that sparked the Titans’ epic comeback against the Chiefs was undoubtedly Marcus Mariota’s third quarter touchdown pass to himself.

I’m sure Mariota would love to tell you the play was by design, but it was absolutely blind luck.

But hey, whatever works, right?

Mariota’s pass was deflected by Darrelle Revis and it came down in Mariota’s hands. He was then able to get to the end zone for the score.

According to multiple media outlets, citing NFL research, Mariota is only the second player in NFL history to catch a touchdown pass from himself. Brad Johnson, in 1997, was the first player to accomplish the extremely rare feat.

So not only did Mariota’s touchdown pass/reception get some points on the board for the Titans, it was also a historical moment for the young quarterback.
