Tennessee Titans: Josh McDaniels Expected To Be Hired By Colts
By Zach Ragan
The Tennessee Titans are currently searching for a new head coach.
When the Tennessee Titans agreed to part ways with Mike Mularkey, the assumption by many was that New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels would be the top option to be the team’s new head coach.
But it now looks like McDaniels could end up choosing the Indianapolis Colts over the Titans, which is a bit of a surprise.
Almost a year ago, it was reported that McDaniels was possibly waiting until after the 2017 season to take a head coaching job, because of the possibility that the Titans job would open up.
McDaniels has a much discussed relationship with Tennessee general manager Jon Robinson that dates back to 2002 when they were both just getting started in the Patriots organization.
If McDaniels does end up choosing the Colts over the Titans, I’m assuming it would be because of the opportunity to work with Andrew Luck.
I don’t think that would be a wise move on McDaniels’ part.
Luck is a supremely talented quarterback that can be considered elite when healthy. But who knows when, or if, he’s going to be healthy. No one really knows the extent of his shoulder injury, which kept him out all of last season. There’s no guarantee he will be 100 percent for the 2018 season.
I also think the Titans have a better roster from top to bottom than the Colts. It’s certainly more in line with what McDaniels is accustomed to in New England.

By the way, if we’ve learned anything in the last couple of months, it’s to never assume a coach is hired, or isn’t hired, somewhere until the ink on the contract is dry.
And even then, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a done deal (just ask Greg Schiano).
