Tennessee Vols: Jauan Jennings Reportedly Reinstated
By Zach Ragan
The Tennessee Vols will reportedly get a major offensive piece back next season.
According to a report from John Brice and Trey Wallace, Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings has been reinstated to the football team.
Jennings was kicked off the team in November by then athletic director John Currie and interim head coach Brady Hoke. The move came after an Instagram live video that showed Jennings disparaging the coaching staff.
Reinstating Jennings is the right move here. Under normal circumstances, I’d be fine with his removal from the team. But the circumstances at Tennessee this past fall were far from ordinary.
It was abundantly clear throughout the season that Butch Jones completely lost control of the program. He knew he was a lame duck coach, so he didn’t hold things down quite as well as he did in his first couple of seasons (not that he did it all that well then, either).
Jennings will likely be on thin ice. He’s down to his last strike and he’s fouling pitches off to stay alive right now. And I think that’s fair. What he did isn’t ok and he should have strict criteria he has to meet. It’s a tricky situation for Jeremy Pruitt, but he’s navigating it correctly….so far.
As far as actual football goes, this is definitely huge for the Volunteers. Jennings is a dog on the field. He literally wills good things to happen (look at the Florida and Georgia games in 2016).

Tennessee severely missed Jennings on the offensive side of the ball last season. His return should help quarterback Jarrett Guarantano out in a big way.
