Jim Bob Cooter — Detroit Lions Offensive Coordinator

There hasn’t been any reported contact between Jim Bob Cooter and the Titans, and from what I can tell there hasn’t been much interest this off-season in him as a head coach.

But I think that’s a mistake.

Cooter, who went to school at Tennessee, has done a fantastic job with the Detroit Lions’ offense since taking over as offensive coordinator in 2015. Quarterback Matthew Stafford, who is having some of the best years of his career under Cooter, is a huge advocate of the Tennessee native.

If the Titans are looking to make a solid under-the-radar hire, they’d be wise to take a look at Cooter.

Career:

  • Tennessee — Graduate assistant (2007–2008)
  • Indianapolis Colts — Offensive assistant (2009–2011)
  • Kansas City Chiefs — Quality control coordinator (2012)
  • Denver Broncos — Offensive assistant (2013)
  • Detroit Lions — Quarterbacks coach (2014–2015)
  • Detroit Lions — Offensive coordinator (2015–Present)
