Tennessee Football: 5 Recruits The Vols Will Land In 2018 Class
By Zach Ragan
Eddie Smith –Cornerback
3-Star — Slidell, LA
Of all the players one this list, Eddie Smith is the one I’m most confident about Tennessee signing.
Smith told Rivals earlier this month that Tennessee is his leader. The other three schools he’s considering are Alabama, Mississippi State and Missouri.
The Louisiana native might only be rated as a three-star, but he’s a player that’s of high importance to the Volunteers. Smith is tailor made to play in Jeremy Pruitt’s defense. He’s long and fast, which is what Pruitt looks for in his cornerbacks.
There could be some concern about Alabama here. The Crimson Tide offered Smith in early January and he’s set to visit Alabama next weekend.
But I think the promise of immediate playing time (the Vols are losing four key defensive backs this year) will convince Smith to sign with Tennessee.
