Predators head into All-Star Break on an 8-game point streak
The Nashville Predators headed into the All-Star Break playing great hockey, as they are on an 8-game point streak.
The Nashville Predators had a short, but successful week. They were able to extend their point streak. The Predators have had five stretches during the year where they have a point streak of at least five or more games, with this current streak being the longest. The Nashville Predators were able to head into the All-Star break with a 29-11-7 record and 65 points.
The Predators only had 2 games this week, as the All Star Weekend was hosted in Tampa Bay on Saturday and Sunday. Two Predators players were involved in the All Star competitions, as well as head coach Peter Laviolette serving as the Central Division’s head coach.
Pekka Rinne starred in the Save Streak competition on Saturday night. Rinne made 13 consecutive saves, and was in 1st place before Marc-Andre Fleury of the Golden Knights upended Rinne’s streak with 14 consecutive saves. P.K. Subban was in the Hardest Shot competition. He finished in 2nd place with a shot of 98.7 MPH. Alex Ovechkin won the competition with a shot of 101.3 MPH.
The two Predators players were able to contribute during the All-Star Game on Sunday. Subban scored a goal, and Rinne was able to save all four of the shots he faced. Rinne also made an outstanding save to keep Connor McDavid from scoring.
The Central Division ended up losing to the Pacific Division 5-2. The Pacific Division ended up going on to beat the Atlantic Division 5-2 as well to win the 2018 All-Star Game.
