Tennessee Volunteers: CB Brandon Davis commits to the Vols
The Tennessee Volunteers picked up a commitment today from Brandon Davis, a 3-star cornerback from Louisiana.
Jeremy Pruitt and staff have seemed to find another diamond in the rough player, as they just picked up a commitment from Brandon Davis. The staff must see a lot of potential in Davis. Tennessee has struggled at the cornerback position over the past few years, so picking up commitments at that position can help the new staff in developing these new players.
Davis is a 5’11 cornerback out of John Curtis High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is ranked #1728 nationally by 247Sports. Despite his low ranking, Davis received all-state honors. Last year at John Curtis, Davis had 31 tackles, six interceptions, 21 pass deflections and a fumble recovery.
Davis received eight offers during his recruiting process, but he also picked up interest from schools such as Florida, Army, Wake Forest and Memphis. He received offers from Liberty, Louisiana Monroe, Colorado State as well as a few others, but committed to Tennessee when he picked up the offer. Tennessee offered Davis on Thursday, and he ended up unofficially visiting the Vols this weekend, as they hosted other recruits on campus for their official visits. Davis then officially committed to the Vols on Monday, just days after he was offered.
Tennessee went after Davis late in the recruiting process, and will be a great get for the Vols, especially if they are to miss out on Oliajah Griffin and Isaac Taylor-Stuart. Hopefully Davis is like Young, and will be a player that slid under the radar of many other teams.
