VFL Derek Barnett comes up clutch in Super Bowl LII
VFL Derek Barnett came up big in Super Bowl LII for the Philadelphia Eagles, as he helped secure a victory with a fumble recovery late in the game.
Despite Super Bowl LII being an offensive performance, it was defense that ended up deciding the outcome of the game. Derek Barnett came up clutch for the Philadelphia Eagles, as he recovered Tom Brady’s fumble with 2:16 left in the game. Brandon Graham of the Eagles was able to create pressure, forcing the ball lose before Brady was able to throw the ball away. The ball bounced straight to Barnett, as he was able to pick it up, and help secure the Eagles first Super Bowl victory.
It’s no doubt that many Volunteer fans were cheering on the Eagles in Super Bowl LII because of Barnett. Watching Barnett secure the victory for the Eagles on the game’s biggest stage had all of Vol Nation proud. For Volunteers fans, they were used to watching Barnett show out in clutch moments when he was at Tennessee. He had many memorable moments as a Volunteer, so watching him come up clutch came as no surprise to Tennessee fans. Barnett is most known as the player who broke Reggie White’s sack record that stood at Tennessee since 1983. Barnett dominated in college at Tennessee, as he had years of 10, 10 and 13 sacks.
It was no surprise that Barnett would be a high draft choice coming out of college. When Barnett was drafted by the Eagles as the 14th pick, he was another good defensive lineman on a team that boasted some of the best lineman in the NFL. Barnett has experienced a great year of football over the last year, as he went from breaking White’s record, to being a first round draft pick and getting a Super Bowl win in his rookie year.
Getting a congratulations from Brady, one of the games best players, after securing a victory in Super Bowl LII had to be the icing on the cake for Barnett. Get used to seeing Barnett’s name for years, as he had the potential to have a great NFL career.
