The Titans continue to add to their defense, signing ex-Washington Redsins UDFA pick-up Will Compton to their linebacker crew.
The Tennessee Titans made a solid move on Monday afternoon. They signed ex-Washington Redskins linebacker Will Compton to a one year deal.

Will Compton an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska, has played in 57 games and has started in 33 of them. He has spent all five years in Washington. He was a full-time starter for the Redskins in 2015 and 2016, earning the defensive captain honor in 2016.
In 2016, he started in 15 games and tallied 106 tackles and an interception. In the year prior, he recorded 96 tackles and an interception. He played all 16 games in 2015, and started in 10 of them.
However, he had his 2017 season cut short due to a separated shoulder and a Lisfranc sprain, according to titansonline.com. In that season, he had 19 tackles and an interception.
This is a bit of an under-the-radar signing for Jon Robinson – something he’s been good at since becoming general manager. He loves signing or drafting guys with a chip on their shoulder. Like Kevin Byard and Rishard Matthews, just to name two.
After just losing Avery Williamson, the Titans could use another solid linebacker. Robinson will hope that Compton can provide an edge for the Titans on defense, considering a lot of guys he has signed to this point have been decent signings.
Compton’s deal is a 1 year, $2 million contract, with a $250,000 signing bonus. Compton’s expected to compete with Jayon Brown (and a possible Titans draft pick) for the starting inside linebacker position.
This move adds yet another piece to the Titans defense. The Titans signed cornerback Malcolm Butler earlier in the off-season. After missing out on Ndamukong Suh, it’s been rumored that the Titans could sign defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins.
With a defensive minded head coach in Mike Vrabel, it’s important that the Titans give him and his defensive coordinator, Dean Pees, some weapons. Compton and Brown could become a solid duo.
