The Tennessee Volunteers played in their annual Orange and White Game on Saturday, as the Orange team won 34-7. Here are three takeaways from the game.

The Tennessee Volunteers closed spring practice out with their annual Orange and White Game on Saturday. The Orange team dominated much of the game, with them coming out on top 34-7.

It was also the many firsts for head coach Jeremy Pruitt and his staff. They participated in their first Vol Walk, and were also able to coach in front of 65,098, which was good for the fifth largest crowd at a spring game this year. The attendance of 65,098 was also good for the fourth largest crowd for an Orange and White Game.

The weather was perfect for fans to come watch the Volunteers for the first time on the year.

Many questions were asked before spring practice began, and most of those questions will go unanswered until fall camp.

One of many questions that were raised going into the spring was who was going to emerge as the starting quarterback. Jarrett Guarantano took over as the starter for the second half of the season last season, with Will McBride seeing action in a few games. The Volunteers also picked up a grad transfer quarterback in Keller Chryst, so it will be interesting to see if he shows out this fall.

The defense also brings up many questions. They are changing many defensive schemes, and will also have to replace a few starters from last year’s team.

No spot is guarenteed at the moment, as the Volunteer players will have all fall camp to duke it out and see who emerges as a starter. The Volunteers have gained a few grad transfers and will also have recruits from the 2018 recruiting class come in early June, as they will attempt to learn the system and look for a starting role.

This year will be an interesting one, and we were able to catch glimpses of it this past Saturday during the Orange and White Game. Here are three takeaways I gathered from the game.
