1. Jarrett Guarantano showed out

One of many spots that will be a good competition battle is the QB spot. We were able to see a lot of snaps from both Guarantano and McBride on Saturday. I thought Guarantano showed out on Saturday for the Orange team. He looked impressive throughout the game, making tough throws. Guarantano ended up going 15-27 with 226 yards and two touchdowns on the day. Although his completetion percentage wasn’t the best, there were at least three other throws that were caught and likely would’ve been ruled a catch in an actual game.

Guarantano’s first touchdown pass of the day was a fade to none other than Marquez Callaway. Callaway came down with yet another impressive one handed catch. That duo might be something we hear a lot of next season.

Guarantano’s second touchdown pass of the day went to Eli Wolf, who ended up having five catches for 63 yards as well as that touchdown.

While Guarantano showed out, McBride struggled throughout the day. Credit the second team isn’t as good as the first team, McBride still didn’t look very good on Saturday. He overthrew many receivers on the day, but finished the day off with a touchdown pass to Latrell Williams.

Guarantano looked to be the better quarterback on Saturday, but it will be interesting to see what Chryst will do once he gets on Rocky Top. He went 11-2 as a starter at Stanford and has a great chance to come here and compete for the starting job.
