The Nashville Predators evened up the series with the Winnipeg Jets last night after a game winning goal by Kevin Fiala in the 2OT period.

The Nashville Predators were able to escape with a double overtime victory last night in Game 2, as the Predators came out on top 5-4. It was an action packed game with the score going back and forth throughout the game.

The series is now tied 1-1 as they head to Winnipeg for Games 3 and 4. It was huge for the Predators to get a win last night as it would’ve been hard to battle back down 0-2 before you even head on the road. But the Predators didn’t have to worry about that because of Kevin Fiala’s game winning goal.

Game Recap

The Nashville Predators started the game off hot, scoring on their first shot of the game on a goal from Ryan Johansen. It was great to see the Predators get off to a hot start, considering they were only able to get one goal past Connor Hellebuyck during Game 1.

The Predators committed their first penalty of the series a little over halfway through the 1st period, which then ended up leading to two goals by the Jets.

Teams were put at four aside after this horrendous penalty call. I’m not really sure how the ref even saw this penalty and ended up calling it on Arvidsson. Either way, this bad call ended up leading to a 4-on-4 goal from the Jets, and then another goal by Mark Scheifele just 29 seconds later.

The Predators finally ended their powerplay woes after P.K. Subban scored his first goal of the playoffs on a slapshot.

With just over a minute left in the 2nd period, Viktor Arvidsson put the Predators back on top after a nice tip pass from Filip Forsberg.

It would be an action packed 3rd period as both teams were fighting for a huge victory. The Jets tied in back up on an awkward shot by Brandon Tanev that sneaked past Rinne’s pad. Just 34 seconds later, Johansen got his 2nd goal of the game to put the Predators up 4-3.

The last few minutes of the 3rd period were crazy as the Jets had plenty of opportunities to tie the game back up. The Jets pulled Hellebuyck to get an extra skater, and then ended up working as Mark Scheifele ended up scoring his fourth goal of the series and sent the game to overtime.

The first overtime period was action packed, but featured no goals. Both teams got plenty of chances but never capitalized.

Fiala was able to capitalize for the Predators in the second overtime period after a nice pass across from Craig Smith to give the Predators a victory and even up the series.
