AFC South Quarterbacks In Best Position To Succeed
By Chris Clark
Deshaun Watson
Somehow, the Texans were pretty decent for a few years with guys like Matt Schaub, T.J. Yates, and whoever else they had. They were carried by their defense for those years, led by J.J. Watt.
Of course how could I forget about Andre Johnson, who tormented the NFL for years.
Then, something scary happened in the 2017 NFL Draft. The Texans selected Clemson QB Deshaun Watson. Most NFL analysts knew that was a huge pick. The Texans, who were already decent and winning the AFC South, just drafted their quarterback of the future.
Oh boy if I could have known better at the time as a Titans fan that the Texans are now a huge threat. I learned the hard way though, when Deshaun Watson torched the Titans, beating them 57-14.
This season, Watson should have it all. He has DeAndre Hopkins to throw it up to. He has a decent offensive line. And, if injuries can stop hitting them, he has a solid defense to back him up.
Watson scares me as a Titans fan, and that is why he is number one on this list.
Most noteworthy, Watson had 19 touchdown passes, while throwing for 1,699 yards and he barely played half a season! Some might mention that the Texans still went under .500 in that span, but that is likely due to injury and Watson not playing in one game.
A more confident, hungry Watson with a healthy Texans team should scare the AFC South and the NFL. I do not know if the Texans will win the AFC South, however I do know they will definitely be in the middle of the race.
