Tennessee Titans fans yearn for postseason glory. There is a long way to go in Mike Vrabel’s first season and that has some wondering how far the team will go.

The Tennessee Titans are in high gear as training camp continues this week and that has had some wondering what the upcoming season will look like. With the extensions of Taylor Lewan and Delanie Walker, fans are resting a little bit easier knowing that two of the team’s most prolific and well known players are locked in for the future.

In addition to these great figures for the Titans, Derrick Henry, Kevin Byard, Jurrell Casey, Jack Conklin, and of course Marcus Mariota will be joining them on the field to put last year behind them. 2017 for the Titans was a season of ups and downs. The level of inconsistency that the two-tone blue put on display was frightening to say the least. With the hire of Mike Vrabel, a new style of leadership and mentality has taken hold and is showing in training camp.

Jim Wyatt of Titans Online said that players such as Corey Davis have been making good plays and that can mean a lot for the offensive production of the Titans. The overall output of the offense should be going up this season with players such as Davis and Henry being led by Mariota and a solid O-line protection with the likes of Lewan and Conklin.

Last season it seemed that at times the playmakers weren’t showing up and playing at a level they typically might be expected. However, when the Titans came ready to play, they showed that they could be a force to be feared by others.

On the defensive side, young backs such as Adoree’ Jackson are proving to be key players for success in the 2018 season. Vets such as Jurrell Casey and Malcolm Butler provide much needed experience in a phase of football that is getting tougher and tougher due to improving offenses and stricter rules.

For the Tennessee Titans, if they want to be back in the playoffs this season, they will need to be on their A-game and execute the no-nonsense play-style that Coach Vrabel has been implementing.

The schedule this year does not allow the Tennessee Titans to slide much at all and could prove to be detrimental if they allow it. Knowing the talent that lies within this team, games such as the Dolphins, Bills, Ravens, Chargers, Jets, and Redskins should be an expected win, but there is much more for this deep team to prove.

Home games such as Sept. 30th against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles will be one of the biggest tests of the 2018. Another monumental game will be when New England visits on Nov. 11th. This could set up to be one of the most anticipated games for the Titans just for the fact that they were sent packing in the second round of last season’s playoffs by the Patriots.

That brings up the next point: Will the Titans make it out of the 2nd round? The history of the Titans does not lend itself to have one believe that this year could be any different since the Patriots and Eagles will most likely be on a roll once again. Not only that, the Titans have a division rival that could stand in their way.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be a nuisance to the Titans one way or another and to many other teams in the league. Unless the team can find their mojo and demonstrate that last year’s inconsistencies are in the past, it may be a tough campaign throughout. If the past come back to haunt it could cost the Titans the division title.

There is no doubt that with the talent available to the Titans they should get back to the playoffs and silence the haters, but will that be a reality? It all seems to lie within the players and coaches themselves.

New uniforms, new head coach, and new players all present a good look to the Titans organization. They provide hope for a fan base yearning for postseason glory that can match up to that of their friends in gold at Bridgestone Arena.

This all amounts to one question. Can the Titans make it out of the 2nd round of the playoffs this year? History says they may not fare well. One thing is for certain though, this season should be an interesting one.
