Tennessee Football: 5 Bold Season Predictions for the Volunteers
#2: Vols win 2-3 games during the brutal 5 game stretch
This is a very bold prediction for the Volunteers football team. As I mentioned before, Tennessee has a brutal five-game stretch, which starts at home against Florida. From there, they head on the road to Georgia and then to Auburn. They then host Alabama, before heading back on the road to South Carolina.
Looking at those games, I think two of those games are very winnable. Those games are the home game against Florida and the game at South Carolina. As I mentioned in the last slide, the Volunteers might have a chance to come into the Florida game with a 3-0 record.
The Florida and Tennessee game has been close just about every year, no matter how good either team is, and with both teams coming into the year with some question marks, it looks like it’ll be another close game yet again.
Like the Florida game every year, the South Carolina game is always close no matter how good each team is. South Carolina comes into the year with some hype around them, coming off one of their most successful seasons in the last few years. The Volunteers played the Gamecocks very close last year and both teams are very similar to last year.
I just don’t see the Volunteers beating Georgia or Auburn on the road, and I really don’t see them hanging with Alabama. If there is any game that the Volunteers have a slim chance to pull off the upset, I believe that game is the Auburn game. The Volunteers have a 10.1% chance to win that game, according to ESPN’s FPI.
I’m sure many fans would be fine if the Volunteers are able to come out of that tough stretch with two wins.
