Game 5: Georgia Bulldogs

Last year’s record: 13-2

FPI’s Projected win total: 10.9-1.8

FPI Chance of winning: 6.3%

We all know what happened the last time the Tennessee Volunteers played at Sanford Stadium.

Unfortunately both teams are very different from that game. Georgia has took many strides forward, while Tennessee has took some steps back.

This game will feature two former defensive coordinators turned head coaches who coached at Alabama, which includes Georgia’s Kirby Smart and Tennessee’s Jeremy Pruitt.

Georgia returns players like Jake Fromm, Terry Godwin, Riley Ridley, and Isaac Nauta but lost playmakers like Roquan Smith, Isaiah Wynn, Sony Michel, Nick Chubb, and Lorenzo Carter. Despite losing a ton of playmakers to the draft, Georgia had the No. 1 recruiting class to make up for that.

This game will be fun in a few years, but Tennessee will struggle this year, as they are in the rebuilding stage with Pruitt. Pruitt is making a ton of strides in recruiting though, especially within the state of Georgia.

Georgia is just too dominant right now. They will have one of the best teams in the nation again, which will be too much to handle for the Volunteers. I think the Volunteers could hang around for a little bit, but Georgia will pull away in the end, putting Tennessee at 3-2 on the year, heading into a bye week.

Prediction: Georgia Bulldogs 41 – Tennessee Volunteers 21

Vols Record: 3-2
