Tennessee Football: 5 Things to look forward to on Saturday
#2: How the Vols will fare in Pruitt’s first game
Saturday will be Jeremy Pruitt’s first game as a head coach. Nothing better for a head coach than to start out their head coaching career against a ranked team with a QB that could win the Heisman Trophy.
Pruitt has a lot to prove this Saturday. One thing that will be key for Pruitt and the Volunteers is game management. Time and time again with Butch Jones, the Volunteers would mismanage a game, whether it was going from the shotgun on the 1-yard line, or kicking an extra point instead of going for a two-point conversion.
With it being his first game as a head coach, he might make some mistakes, but I believe he has surrounded himself with a great coaching staff that knows how to win, and even if they make some mistakes on Saturday, they will find a way to win.
The Volunteers don’t have a lot of hype surrounding them, especially after going 4-8, but if they are able to come out of the gate firing and get a win in Pruitt’s opener, a good bit of hype could surround the Volunteers throughout the rest of the season, especially with next two opponents on the schedule.
