#1 – How Jarrett Guarantano fares

Jarrett Guarantano looked pretty good past Saturday, only throwing six incomplete passes. While he only threw for 172 yards on 19 completions, he still looked good and showed improvements from last season.

One thing I would like to see from Tyson Helton and Guarantano is more shots downfield. Guarantano looked good on the short passes, especially on the passes to Marquez Callaway. Maybe there is a reason they didn’t take many shots downfield, but I think the Volunteers should test things out this week against ETSU.

For a secondary that allowed around 250 yards to a Mars Hill team, the Volunteers should be able to throw the ball all day long, especially those short routes that Guarantano completed to Callaway and Jauan Jennings last week.

Look for the Volunteers to take a couple of early shots downfield to try and break this game open.

One thing I would like to see Guarantano do better with is the run game. He has made some questionable decisions in the past regarding the run game, but look for the Volunteers offense to try and work on that during this game.

If the Volunteers do what they are supposed to do, they will see two quarterbacks get reps on Saturday. Guarantano will start again, but Keller Chryst will likely get some reps as well once Tennessee takes a commanding lead. Chryst got playing time last week, but it was only for one drive at the end of the game. I’m sure all of Vol Nation wants to see what he is all about.
