The Tennessee football team looks to get their first win of the season, as the ETSU Buccaneers head to town. Here are our sitewide predictions for that game.

The Tennessee football team began their 2018 season last week, facing off against West Virginia. The Volunteers took a loss in that game, but are looking to turn that performance around this week when the ETSU Buccaneers come to Neyland Stadium.

ETSU is a tough team that has the chance to stick around. They had a slow start last week against Mars Hills but ended up riding a hot 2nd half on the way to a 28-7 win.

Stetson Marlin’s Prediction:

Tennessee should and will come out of this game with an easy victory. It might take the Volunteers to get into the swing of things like last week’s game against West Virginia, but that won’t slow them down enough.

The Volunteers should be able to ride the arm of Jarrett Guarantano and the rushing attack from Tim Jordan for their first victory of the year in the first game at Neyland Stadium. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Guarantano will throw for over 250 passing yards, while Jordan will rush for over 100 yards again.

The defense might be a struggle again for the Volunteers, but they will be able to get a good amount of spots against ETSU to give the offense some comfort.

Tennessee 45 – ETSU 17

Kyle Schmidt’s Prediction:

After a big loss to West Virginia, the Volunteers will be looking to bounce back with a convincing win in their home opener this weekend.  Tennessee should not have any problems handling the Buccaneers; however, in recent years they have had a tendency to struggle against these types of opponents.

Not only will Tennessee be the bigger and more talented team, playing in Neyland Stadium with 102,455 screaming fans may prove to be a little much for the ETSU to handle.  Randy Sanders will have his team prepared, but they will still have to be able to execute and slow down the bigger Volunteer players.

As I said, Tennessee should have no problems winning this game big and ultimately, I think that is what will happen.  The Volunteers will get their first victory in a blowout win.

Tennessee 52 – ETSU 14

Austin Wright’s Prediction:

Tennessee struggled mightily against West Virginia last week and the Vols have a lot of issues to correct for their game against ETSU. Although this game should be a cupcake, Tennessee should not treat it as such. With only 172 passing yards, Guarantano will need to prove that he is capable of dicing up defenses like many expect him to and connect with his receivers.

What’s intriguing for the Vols offense is the running back position and seeing who will get the ball and when. Ty Chandler exploded onto the scene last year, but Tim Jordan made big a statement vs the Mountaineers. With the options Tennessee has, they should beat ETSU.

Tennessee 49 – ETSU 7

Tennessee will get their first win of the season against an opponent they definitely SHOULD beat. This game won’t be close.

Mike Patton’s Prediction:

The Tennessee Vols head back home after a big loss to take on East Tennessee State University. The Vols struggled to get consistent momentum and it hurt them. At home with Neyland Stadium packed, that shouldn’t be an issue. Oh and the fact that they are playing ETSU.

Tennessee 41 – ETSU 16
