The Tennessee football Twitter page announced on Monday that the Volunteers are slotted to take on Florida in a night game in Neyland Stadium on September 22nd.

The Tennessee Volunteers will face their rivals, the Florida Gators, in a night game at Neyland Stadium on September 22nd. The time of the game was in question for many fans, especially after Florida’s loss to Kentucky this past Saturday.

The Tennessee football Twitter page announced earlier today though that the game will be played at 7:00 or 7:30 PM EST next Saturday.

The game will be televised on one of the ESPN networks, whether that be ESPN, ESPN2, or the SEC Network. Like mentioned in the tweet, the final decision on the time of the game will be decided after the Volunteers game on Saturday against UTEP.

Above is the schedule for the SEC on September 22nd. The SEC is full of huge matchups that weekend, so it was unsure of what games would receive a certain slot. Many fans thought the Volunteers would get the noon start, but that time slot ended up going to the Georgia-Missouri game.

The Volunteers matchup against the Gators usually is broadcasted on SEC on CBS, but that time slot went to the Alabama/Texas A&M matchup this year.

Both teams should head into this matchup with a 2-1 record, barring an upset on either side. The Volunteers have an easy matchup against UTEP this Saturday in Neyland Stadium, while the Gators have a game at home against Colorado State. That game looked like an easy win on the Gators schedule, but the Rams were able to upset the Arkansas Razorbacks last Saturday.

If you don’t remember what happened the last time the Gators played in Knoxville, I will help refresh your memory. The Volunteers got their first win against the Gators in 11 games, as Tennessee scored 38 straight points in front of a sold-out checkered Neyland Stadium.
