Tennessee Football: 5 Things to watch for in the UTEP Game
#5 – Not looking past UTEP
This should be another easy win for the Tennessee Volunteers. According to SBNation’s S&P+ rankings, which measures a certain teams success rate and team efficiency, UTEP is ranked as the worst team out of all 130 FBS teams.
The Volunteers have a very important matchup next Saturday against Florida, but the last thing the Volunteers need to do is look past this week’s opponent. Sure, UTEP is ranked as the worst team in FBS, but we have seen what the Volunteers have done in the past while looking ahead. Just take a look at last year’s matchup against UMASS.
Tennessee will likely test some things out this week, but won’t likely show everything, especially leading up to next week’s game.
The Volunteers should still win this game no matter what, but you just don’t want to have this team look sluggish a week before a huge matchup. I’m sure Coach Pruitt is preaching to the guys to make sure to stay focused this week.
