#3 – The offensive line

It is no doubt that the offensive line has struggled so far this season. Despite struggling last week against UTEP, the running backs still rushed for over 300 yards. No matter what happened in that game, the Volunteers were going to win that game. That can’t happen this week though against Florida. Florida has a good defensive line who can create havoc, so the offensive line will have a handful this weekend.

Drew Richmond struggled mightily last week against UTEP. UTEP was not a good team at all, yet Richmond committed a good number of penalties, including a holding and a chop block. It was alarming that the offensive line struggled against UTEP last week.

The offensive line will have to have guys like Trey Smith, Jahmir Johnson, and Jerome Carvin play complete football this Saturday. Good offensive line play is a must if the Volunteers want to beat Florida at home for the second straight time.

The offensive line must stay away from penalties this week. Penalties hurt the Volunteers last week and held them back from a few touchdowns. If the Volunteers do that this week, they will only hurt themselves even more.
