Vanderbilt Football: Sitewide Predictions for the South Carolina Game
The Vanderbilt football is looking to start out their SEC campaign hot as they host South Carolina this Saturday.
The Vanderbilt football team is coming off of a very tough loss last week, losing in a heartbreaker to Notre Dame on the road. They host the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday. The Gamecocks are coming off of a week without a game. They were scheduled to play Marshall, but that game was canceled because of Hurricane Florence.
Stetson Marlin’s Prediction:
This is a very hard game to pick. We only have a sample size of the South Carolina Gamecocks, and one of the games we have seen from the Gamecocks is the Georgia game, in which they didn’t look very good.
This will be a good matchup between two very good quarterbacks in Kyle Shurmur and Jake Bentley. Deebo Samuel and Kalija Lipscomb will be used a lot this week for both teams.
Vanderbilt 24 – South Carolina 21
Kyle Schmidt’s Prediction:
Vanderbilt will take on the Game Cocks of South Carolina Saturday in Nashville. Vanderbilt is coming off a hard-fought loss against Notre Dame, while South Carolina hasn’t played a game since they lost to Georgia. The Game Cocks have had plenty of time to be able to get prepared and as long as they aren’t too rusty from the time off, this will be a very interesting game.
If South Carolina wants to avoid the upset, they will have to be able to get in the backfield and put pressure on Kyle Shurmer. If Shurmur has time to sit back in the pocket and find an open receiver, it could be a very long day for the South Carolina secondary. I think Vanderbilt is better than people think they are and will get the upset victory at home this weekend. The Commodores will win this one close.
Vanderbilt 28 – South Carolina 24
Austin Wright’s Prediction:
Vanderbilt’s first SEC East matchup of the season is vs South Carolina and the Dores have a lot to play for. After coming up a couple catches short of a historic win against Notre Dame, the black and gold have a fire lit under them. This week against the Gamecocks, Vanderbilt needs to ensure Shurmur can get comfortable in the pocket to dice up South Carolina’s defense. In the end, the Dores will come out on top.
Vanderbilt 35 – South Carolina 14
Chris Clark’s Prediction:
Vanderbilt looked really good against Notre Dame last week, and that’s a sign of good things to come. I think Vanderbilt handles their business versus South Carolina
Vanderbilt 23 – South Carolina 14
