The Tennessee Titans did not have the best of luck last week and it seemed as if the 2017 squad reappeared. They have a chance to turn it around this weekend though against the Ravens.

The two-tone blue has to make every effort to not become that team that plays down to their opponents.  New uniforms – new struggles? Lackluster execution is what caused the Titans to lose the number of games they did last year. This season SHOULD be much different but the Buffalo Bills made it seem otherwise last week.

What to Expect

Tennessee has a lot to prove on Sunday as they host a Ravens team that lost a crushing 12-9 game against the Browns. Yes the Browns, really, the Cleveland Browns. For the Titans to get back to their winning ways, they will have to rely on Marcus Mariota and Derrick Henry to carry the offense that has seen receivers drop ball after ball.

After asking for respect from the media and fans alike, the Titans now have to earn everyone’s respect by beating quality teams like Baltimore and so on. The most difficult thing for Titans fans right now is trying to understand where the inconsistencies lie.

Is it really just the receiving corp and if so how the organization will fix it. If not, dare we ask if the inconsistency is coaching related. With the additions of Mike Vrabel at head coach and Matt LaFluer at offensive coordinator, there is sure to be growing pains with it being early in the season. But come on the Bills?

Even with these problems, the Titans have abundant talent that can easily bring the team more check marks in the win column, but the offensive side of the ball has been somewhat disappointing. Nick Williams, who is now cut by the team, dropped what could have been the game-winning touchdown for Titans against the Bills and his play along with other Tennessee receivers is what is currently bringing the team down.

One bright spot for the Titans currently is their incredibly precise kicker Ryan Succop. His play has lifted the Titans on the score sheet and has proven to be historic. With his game on Sunday, Succop became the Titans most accurate kicker in franchise history and also scored every single point for them.

Coming into this Sunday, Tennessee will face a stout Ravens team ranked third in total defense. Vrabel and his squad will need to turn things around by putting up numbers like they did the last time they played at home which was in a thrilling overtime win against the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Mariota and Henry alike will be in for a physical game against the Ravens defense and their contributions will be critical for success. Should the offense get into a rhythm as they did vs Philly, the Ravens could be in for a long game. In addition, the home crowd should also propel the struggling Titans and be a nuisance to Baltimore’s offense.

With all of this in mind, Mike Vrabel’s play calling will be crucial in determining if Tennessee can come up with a big win and could prove to be the main factor in outsmarting the Raven defense. All in all, the Titans will strike down the Ravens beating them 31-21.
