While already a fan favorite on the Tennessee coaching staff, Brian Niedermeyer solidified that spot with an outstanding recruiting cycle in 2019.

Despite coming off of a 5-7 record, the Tennessee Volunteers football team finished strong on National Signing Day. The strong finish to NSD came in big part to the impressive recruiting from Volunteers tight ends coach, Brian Niedermeyer.

Niedermeyer’s big finished put him at the No. 1 spot in the 2019 Football Recruiter Rankings on 247Sports. He finished over key position coaches like Drew Mehringer of Texas and Tosh Lupoi of Alabama.

As Kyle mentioned in the National Signing Day article, the Volunteers now have three members on the coaching staff that has won the National Recruiter of the Year. Jeremy Pruitt won the award in 2013 at Florida State, reeling in the likes of Jalen Ramsey. After finishing second in the recruiting rankings in consecutive years, Tee Martin won the award in 2016 at USC. Martin finished with 11 recruits in that class, including two 5-stars and seven 4-stars.

He helped solidify his top spot, landing a total of seven commits in the 2019 recruiting class. In those seven commits, Niedermeyer brought in one 5-star commit, five 4-star commits, and one 3-star commit. He was able to bring in three of the top four highly-rated players in the Volunteers class, which included 5-star offensive lineman Darnell Wright, 4-star linebacker Henry To’oto’o, and 4-star athlete Quavaris Crouch.

Last year, Niedermeyer was well known for bringing in Dominick Wood-Anderson, a 4-star JUCO tight end.

Give this man a raise!

If the Volunteers want to continue to have success on the recruiting trail, they need to pay this man! Niedermeyer, otherwise known as Moose by Vol Twitter continues to grow his liking up on Rocky Top.

His current salary sits at $200,000, but I won’t be surprised at all to see that mark go up here in the near future. Niedermeyer will be a key piece here for the Volunteers in their rebuilding process, and they need to protect this man at all costs.

As I mentioned at the beginning, Niedermeyer is a fan favorite.

Tweets like this one above might be a good reason why is a fan favorite on Rocky Top. If you can’t tell, he is throwing shade at the previous staff (more specifically Butch Jones), as they were well known for using the term, “Brick by Brick.”

He also posted this tweet after landing Wright, the 5-star OL from West Virginia. With the addition of Wright, the Volunteers have beefed up a much-needed position, adding two 5-star offensive tackles, as well as one 4-star recruit in Jackson Lampley, and two 3-star recruits in Chris Akporoghene and Melvin McBride.

Despite Tennessee’s struggles spanning over the last decade, they have still managed to land in the top in recruiting rankings year in and year out. The thing that will make this staff different from others though is if they are able to develop these highly regarded recruits that continue to roll in. Only time will tell, but this current staff seems to be heading in the right direction. It will be fun to see how this program evolves over the next few seasons if this staff stays put.
