Tennessee Titans: Peyton Manning loves the Titans this year
Peyton Manning is jumping on the Titans bandwagon ahead of the 2019 season. He has now talked highly of the team and Marcus Mariota.
Peyton Manning is high on the Titans this year, and he said it’s all credit to Amy Adams Strunk.
"“And it’s a real credit to (Amy Adams Strunk) and for her having a great vision to get them to where they are today with a head coach like Mike Vrabel. This is a football town. The Tennessee Titans I competed against, with Steve McNair and Eddie George, I know what it is like here when things are rolling, and I think with Mike Vrabel the Titans are in a great position and she deserves a lot of credit for that."
Strunk has been trying to get the Titans over the hump the past few years and go from good to great. Manning believes that could happen this year.
"“The Titans — they’re a team to be reckoned with now in the AFC,” Manning said."
Manning wasn’t just praising Strunk and Vrabel. He also had some good things to say about Marcus Mariota.
Mariota is entering the final year of his rookie contract and could be set up for a big payday if he can have a solid 2019. If he can’t stay on the field or struggles to get things going, he could be done in Nashville and might be looking for a new home next offseason.
Manning doesn’t think that will happen though. Manning believes this season is when Mariota also goes from good to great and secures a contract extension.
Manning said he’d known Mariota since his playing days in Oregon. Mariota helped with one of Manning’s camps, and that’s why he is rooting for him to have a successful 2019.
We’ve all seen what Mariota can do when he’s healthy. He is one of the best quarterbacks in the AFC and if he could stay healthy and play 16 games every year the Titans could soon become a staple in the NFL Playoffs.
Let’s hope for the sake of the Titans’ future Mariota will be able to stay healthy this season and prove he is in the top tier of quarterbacks.
