Quentin Tarantino was born in Knoxville in 1963 and has carried his love for Tennessee into his movies.

In all but just a handful of the movies, he directed there is some sort of Tennessee reference. From Django from “Django Unchained” hunting down men in Chattanooga to Pulp Fiction’s multiple Knoxville references you can find a little bit of everything in his films.

Although he didn’t make it too obvious at first, it’s hard to find someone who has as much reach as Tarantino to put so many Tennessee references in his projects. Just based off that alone it’s clear he loves Tennessee and Knoxville.

Maybe we can get a Vols reference in Tarantino’s newest movie “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood.”

He grew up at the end of the Doug Dickey era in Knoxville and the beginning of the Bill Battle era.

The Vols dominated the early 1970s with a 46-11 from ’70-’74. Tarantino could’ve easily gotten hooked in his early childhood with those numbers. Being from Knoxville, it was easy to keep up with the Vols and had a lot to cheer for at the time.
