Clint Stoerner is the most recent “analyst” to come after Marcus Mariota. Stoerner ripped Mariota in his breakdown of the Texans 2019 schedule.

Marcus Mariota has underperformed the past couple of years, and part of that is due to injuries. If Mariota was able to stay healthy for an entire season, he may a top-five quarterback in the NFL, but injuries have prevented that.

Clint Stoerner, on the other hand, was much worse in the NFL. After throwing for over 7,000 yards at Arkansas, Stoerner spent two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. He played just five games in those two seasons and averaged only 73 yards per game.

I have been critical of Mariota recently, but I think it’s a reach to say that no one in the NFL is scared of Mariota. If he can get things going early in the season, the Titans could be a dark horse to win the AFC South early.

I guess you could say it takes one to know when you’re talking about failed quarterbacks, but Mariota is far from failing in the NFL. Or maybe Stoerner was referring to himself when he said in his breakdown that Mariota “scares no one.”

If Stoerner would have had even a semi-successful NFL career or thrown for 100 yards in more than one game, I think it would be fine for him to be critical of an NFL quarterback.

Stoerner didn’t have what it took to be successful in the NFL so he can’t call out other quarterbacks and say they don’t have what it takes either. His resume proves he doesn’t know what it takes to be successful.

And to say no one is scared of Mariota is an understatement. I don’t think people are overly scared of Mariota either nor do they consider their matchup with the Titans an automatic loss because of Mariota.

But when you look at the raw stats, although Mariota was down, last year he was one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the league. Mariota was sacked 42 times but completed 72.5% of his passes when under pressure which was good enough for fourth best in the NFL.

Next. Should the Titans give Taywan Taylor more opportunities in 2019?. dark

It’s going to be up to Mariota to prove the doubters wrong in 2019 and earn a second NFL contract. Mariota is definitely one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the NFL in 2019 and can prove everyone wrong if he can stay healthy.
