As Marquez Callaway gets ready for his senior season at Tennessee, one of his main focuses has been on becoming a leader.

A successful football team never have too many leaders. Failing football teams never have enough leaders. If more players at Tennessee approach this season like Marquez Callaway then Tennessee will be a successful football team.

Callaway said leadership has been at the forefront this offseason as he looks to grow as a leader in the locker room and on the field.

"“I am trying to make myself a better leader on the field, that is what I have been trying to work on personally,” Callaway said at Tennessee’s media day.“People come to Tennessee to win and we are trying to turn this ship around, and in order to do that we have to listen to what coaches have to say,” he continued to say."

Those are some promising words from the senior receiver. That’s the attitude Jeremy Pruitt has been working to instill into his players. Whether they are seniors or freshmen, it looks like Pruitt is instilling a winning mentality throughout his locker room.

Callaway also made a point that it’s not just the coaches “preaching” to the players the older players are preaching that same message to the younger guys.

After hearing this and seeing other things whether it’s clips of the players, quotes or whatever it seems like this team is very close-knit and could prove to be one of the better Tennessee teams in recent years.

This is a very important season for Coach Pruitt as he tries to prove that he has what he takes to be the Tennessee head coach but when you look at it, this season is also very important for Callaway.

As a senior, he’s going to do whatever he can to prove to NFL franchises he has what it takes to be an NFL wide receiver.

Next. What it’s like to play under Jeremy Pruitt. dark

He has the speed, hands, and ability to be an NFL wide receiver now it’s down to does he have the “it” factor and can he be a leader. If he is successful in proving that this year he will have no trouble motivating his teammates and being successful in the NFL.
