Derrick Henry made his long-awaited return to the practice field on Monday after recovering from an ankle injury, which is a great sign.

Derrick Henry hasn’t seen the practice field since the first day of training camp until Monday. So now it’s time to raise the question, will he be ready by Week 1?

Well, we may want to focus on the next couple of weeks before we get to the regular season. I don’t think Henry needs to participate in a preseason game to be ready Week 1, but it would never hurt.

Henry’s participation was limited in his return, as expected. For what he did do, he looked pretty good, or as good as he could look.

Mike Vrabel seemed to be happy that Henry is back at practice and rightfully so. Henry will be an important piece of this year’s offense, and they both know that.

"“It was really good (to get him back),” Vrabel said. “It’s really good to get everybody back that we can, when we can get them back. We’ll see how (Derrick) is and hopefully start to progress a little bit tomorrow.”"

The next game on the schedule for the Titans is when the Steelers come to town this weekend. If Henry is ready to go by Sunday Vrabel believes he’ll play, if not we will have to wait until next week.

But for now, we should just be happy that Henry is able to get back onto the field. Even if it is going through the basics, he has to start somewhere.

If Henry is 100% by Week 1 of the regular season, then the Titans offense could be dangerous. The Titans have skill players at every position that can contribute and play at a high level, which is exactly what the Titans need, especially at the beginning of the season.

I hope we can get a look at Henry on Sunday, but it’s best to keep him out until he’s 100% ready to play again. Hopefully, that comes sooner rather than later.
