Tennessee Titans: Mike Vrabel on the hot seat is laughable

The national media is wildin out once again this time claiming that Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is on the hot seat.

USA Today’s For The Win put together a handful of coaches who are on the hot seat in 2019, including Titans coach Mike Vrabel.

Steven Ruiz is the man behind the list, and the fact that he put Vrabel on that list proves that no one outside of Tennessee really knows anything about Titans football.

"“Mariota’s time in Tennessee is likely coming to an end,” Ruiz said. “It certainly will come to an end if he’s unable to hold onto his starting job for a full 16-game season. If the Titans have to start over at quarterback, and Tennessee underwhelms once again under Vrabel, it’s easy to see ownership wanting to start fresh with an offensive-minded coach who will groom the next QB of the future.”"

What Ruiz said makes sense but not for this year. Clearly, if the Titans move on from Marcus Mariota and after a few years with a new quarterback, if Vrabel isn’t able to turn things around then, he’s out as the head coach.

No one in their right mind thinks Vrabel is on his way out even if he is a defensive coach. There aren’t many successful defensive-minded coaches in the NFL anymore, but if Vrabel proves he can be the Titans long-term coach, then he’s not going anywhere.

And this take isn’t the first wild take the national media has thrown out into the universe. They have also said Delanie Walker could be cut at the end of the preseason.

They also invented a non-existent quarterback battle/controversy, and I can’t lie I took that and ran with it. I wanted to have a little fun with a quarterback battle that isn’t real.

The only way Ryan Tannehill is the Titans starting quarterback is if Mariota goes down with an injury or the Titans start the season 0-5 or something crazy like that.

The fact of the matter is the national media is clueless about the Titans in 2019, which could also be a good thing for our sports bettors.

If you think about it, a lot of game lines can be affected by national media news. If the national media thinks the Titans are the worst team in the NFL and continues to put out these crazy stories, then I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the Titans as big underdogs in the first few games.

So if you do bet on sports, I’d recommend taking the Titans hard on the spread if the lines are affected by these wild and non-existent stories.

There’s your tip for 2019 if you’re in the dumps from preseason football or the long baseball season. If you don’t gamble, well, go celebrate with a $12 beer at a Titans or Vols game.

I don’t expect the national media to stop covering the Titans like this. They will continue to make up stories to get things going and conversations starting, but if you don’t hear it from the Titans or a local Tennessee reporter, then it might not be true.

Next. Fantasy Football sleeper for 2019. dark

Let’s remember one “national reporter/NFL talking head” called one of the best safeties in the league if not the best in Kevin Byard a fan.
