For the past couple of years, I have been down on Marcus Mariota, and I didn’t think he’d ultimately be the Tennessee Titans’ guy.

This is a letter to Marcus Mariota. In this letter, I would like to ask him to please prove me wrong. Prove me wrong after all offseason I said he isn’t going to be successful enough to keep his job with the Tennessee Titans.

Along with me, prove everyone else outside of Tennessee that you’re not only the Titans’ guy, but you’re also far better than Jameis Winston, and you can be a successful long-term quarterback in the NFL.

Hey, you already torched the Browns who were expected to be one of the best teams in the AFC this year. I mean a lot of people put money on the Browns to win the Super Bowl, and you just led the Titans to a 43-13 win at their home stadium.

It might be a little different if they came to Nashville and fell apart, but they got to sleep in their beds, get ready in their locker room, and play in front of their fans, and there were a lot of their fans there.

The Browns fans packed First Energy Stadium to the roof, but that didn’t stop you from putting up 40 in front of them. Yeah, you had a slow start, but you overcame that in the second half and opened the game up.

It wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t give some credit to the defense too. They brought their A-game as well and thanks to them you had the opportunity to open the game up as you did and slice and dice that defense.

You might not recognize this right now, but if you play as you did in Week 1, you could very well be in contention for AFC OPOY and maybe even MVP when it comes down to it.

I compared your 2016 season and said if the Titans want to be successful in 2019 then you’re going to have to play as you did in 2016.

Well, in Week 1 in 2016 you threw for 271 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. A pretty good line but it still wasn’t enough to win the game. In comparison, you threw for 248 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.

That’s about as close as you can get to 2016’s Week 1 stat line and you did it only throwing 24 passes when you threw the ball 41 times in the 2016 game. I said it once, and I’ll say it again keep that up, and we might be looking at a possible MVP.

But the biggest key to success is keeping that success going in Week 2 and on throughout the season. Even though I doubted you, I won’t stop cheering you on unless you leave the Titans for the Colts or something, but that will be in a different letter.

And don’t get me wrong of course I have the MVP front runner still upfront but you’re right behind him. I mean Dak Prescott had an impressive performance too ;).

Anyways, keep up the good work out there. After the team’s Week 1 performance I believe the Titans could shock a lot of people this year. But let’s keep that on the down-low so we can sneak into the playoffs and go on a run in January.
