247Sports released their ten most disappointing teams in College Football, and the Tennessee Volunteers fell first on their list.

When you think of disappointing teams in college football this year, you may think of Miami, Michigan (of course), or Nebraska. There was national hype surrounding all three of these teams, and they all have flopped.

Even though these teams aren’t off to the start, they had hoped for they are still not 247Sports’ most disappointing college football team. That honor goes to yours truly, the Tennessee Volunteers.

The Vols are, of course, a disappointment to millions of fans within the State of Tennessee and the surrounding areas, but from a national perspective, they’re not on a lot of people’s radar because they’re so irrelevant in college football right now.

That’s why when I thought of the most disappointing team in college football right now, my mind went to Miami. They had national hype surrounding them going into the Florida game in Week 0, and I even had high expectations for the Hurricanes heading into the season.

But I think 247Sports got this one right. Regardless of how big a fan you are, you can’t dismiss Tennessee’s failures in 2019, and with a loss to BYU and Georgia State, they should easily qualify as the most disappointing college football team this year.

"“Knoxville is ground zero for disaster right now,” said Brad Crawford of 247Sports. “The butt of all jokes earlier this season after a shocking loss to Georgia State, Tennessee then squandered a late lead vs. BYU at home before getting trampled by Florida a few weeks later in the SEC opener. It’s gotten so bad offensively, Jeremy Pruitt was forced to bench returning starter Jarrett Guarantano in favor of a freshman. Off-the-field, the Vols dismissed Jeremy Banks after he threatened a female student and was later arrested on a traffic charge. During that arrest, Pruitt was heard on the dash cam pleading with police to let his player go. And guess what? Tennessee faces top-ranked Alabama in two weeks.”"

Yep, I can’t argue with that point from Crawford Tennessee is a complete dumpster fire right now. I think Jeremy Pruitt is on the right track in turning the program around, but it’s going to be a long process, and it won’t happen this year or likely even next year.

Even though I think he’s on the right track, there’s still a lot of work to do, and you can’t forget about what has happened up to this point.

Tennessee is, without a doubt, the most disappointing team in college football. On that note, Tennessee fans are some of the best in college football. If you consider the Vols the most disappointing or not, there is still credit to be given to the fanbase.

Next. My blind faith believes the Vols can win six games. dark

Neyland Stadium was rocking last Saturday, and that was thanks to all the fans who showed up to support a struggling, disappointing football program. Now let’s hope they can figure things out and reward us for it.
