Tennessee Titans: Derrick Henry on pace to reach career high
Derrick Henry is on pace to break his single-season rushing record in his young career even after the Titans have refused to give him the ball.
The best player on the Tennessee Titans’ offense is undoubtedly Derrick Henry. He’s consistently able to produce good numbers for the Titans every game when he is given a chance.
Henry currently has 832 rushing yards through 10 games this season. That puts him on pace to finish the season with 1,331 rushing yards. His highest rushing mark before this season was last season when he rushed for 1,059 yards.
It’s kind of surprising to me that Henry already has over 800 rushing yards on the season. I only say that because there have been a few games where Titans OC Arthur Smith seemed to have something against Henry because he wouldn’t give him the ball.
But the stats don’t lie. If you look at the games where Henry was given the ball a lot and given his fair share of the workload, the Titans usually played better on offense.
Some Titans fans have said Henry isn’t good and doesn’t fit in an NFL system. He does fit in an NFL system, though. All you have to do is give the man the ball, and he will find the hole and eventually break one for a really long run or a touchdown.
The Titans will not be successful relying on their quarterback play. Henry is a versatile enough player to change an entire gameplan for an opposing defense.
If the Titans use him correctly in the final games of the season, then they’ll be a lock for a playoff spot. The Titans offense is booming when Henry is on, and the Titans use him correctly.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Henry gets close to 1,500 yards as long as the Titans give him the ball and let him do his thing.
